Alumni Spotlight | Levi Gangi ’13 Approved for Board Certification
On July 15 at the Association of Professional Chaplains’ annual conference in Anaheim, Calif., Levi Gangi, M.A. ’13, was interviewed and approved for board certification. Embracing the journey that has led him to chaplaincy, Levi reflects on his experience saying,
"Achieving board certification is a reminder to me that no ministry is ever done alone, and I hope to have the continued opportunity to serve, mentor and encourage others as they tread the road toward a career in chaplaincy."
Levi currently serves as the supervisor of spiritual care at Rochester General Hospital, in Rochester, N.Y. An accomplished musician, Levi recently recorded and released an original album titled “Transient” to raise money for Story of Hope Comfort Care Home.
In 2015, Northeastern Seminary journeyed with Levi to share in the day-to-day moments of ministry as a hospice chaplain. The story behind the photo:
“He’s not doing very well. He’s been sleeping most of the day,” his son told us as we stopped in for the regular home visit with this once vibrant musician now in his last days. He was quite still and his eyes remained closed as Levi, spiritual care chaplain, started what had become his custom with Roger—he began tuning his guitar and then strumming some music he was writing. He hadn’t gotten to the end of the first song when a smile appeared on Roger’s face.
