Here is What Our Grads Have to Say
During this final semester, I was in a spiritual formation group and during one of our sessions we had a few people get very vulnerable and share some person thing they were going through. Just within that hour of time there was a lot of encouragement and prayer going around. It was such a beautiful moment even though we were all in different location on a zoom call. It really reminded me of so many times here when I’ve had a class where God showed up and created such compassion and love with one another. My group is even planning on seeing each other during commencement to be in person! How cool!
My journey was empowered by unshakable faith knowing that it would be challenging among the way, but The Lord guided me towards NES to be transformed in my calling. My educational experience was insightful, it challenged me and help me expand my knowledge academically but also shaped me theologically. To all my professors, colleagues and friends at NES, I am beyond grateful for the support to push forward, even in the midst of surviving. Willie Jennings said it best that as we survive and join with the suffering with Jesus Christ that we are Thriving gathering in joy with one another to fight the good fight of our Faith. I Remember attending a women's clergy conference in Texas as an undergraduate in 2022 asking the HolySpirit to guide me to my next step in how to serve him. I ended up loosing my group that I was with and right infont of me was a table the stated Northeastern Seminary. I felt the rush of the HolySpirit as I approached the table, where I got greeted by JP Anderson and Rebecca. The anwser to attend NES was yes and Amen. I am truly grateful to now graduating and be stepping into the next season pruned and continuing on Transforming for the Lord.Hebrews 11:3 NIVBy faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
It seemed at a late stage in my life it would be illogical to pursue any further course of studies. Yet like the decision to enter the masters of theology studies for the permanent diaconate, was also unreasonable and considered too young. A trajectory was again put into place that I would never have anticipated. The journey has been as Bilbo narrates: “It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.” The primary benefit of the D.Min. has been the opportunity to evaluate and rediscovering by being swept off to another adventure.Without exception, each retreat, seminar and course leading to the dissertation has facilitated that examination. The advisors, readers, professors and the administration in their generous guidance helped move me forward in a seamless collaboration with my cohorts, all of whom have been welcoming, transparent and for whom I have the highest regard. Although I would still question my competencies as an academician, Northeastern Seminary has provided a route where my limited endowments have been made manifest so that I may continue to serve Jesus Christ in the Catholic Church that I have loved from my earliest recollections.
So as we enter another semester, we pray for you to finish the race put before you!
