Responsibilities:

Oversee Sunday morning children’s programming—coordinating volunteers for nursery and K-5 Children’s Church, while serving as the lead teacher for Children’s Church. Oversee Sunday evening youth programming—coordinating youth group volunteers, organizing youth events and activities, and serving as the lead teacher for our 6th-12th grade youth ministry. Assess various curriculum options for youth and children’s ministries, choosing curriculum that aligns with our church’s values and implementing lesson plans that engage and resonate with young people. Assist the Lead Pastor in finding creative ways to engage children, youth, and families on Family Sundays (first Sunday of every month) when kids stay in the worship service. Plan and coordinate bi-monthly Family Ministry events to promote fellowship between families and community engagement (e.g., Trunk-or-Treat, Arts Fest, Movie Night, etc.). Plan and coordinate four special youth group events each year (e.g., pool party, lock-ins, youth conferences, etc.) as well as regular service opportunities for our youth. Assist the Lead Pastor with baby dedications, graduation acknowledgements, ministry year kick-offs, and other special events. Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

The area is a predominantly white community with a very small minority population in the region. Wal-Mart is the primary market for groceries and goods, though there is a thriving farmer’s market and numerous Amish markets nearby, as well as other small shops and restaurants in the downtown area. Along with the public schools there is also a private Catholic school and Eagle Christian school.

Community information: Fillmore MN is a beautiful unincorporated community in the southern region of the state, and the FM Church is a central influence not only in Fillmore, but also in the surrounding communities and counties. However, while rural, it is just thirty-five minutes from Rochester, MN the home of Mayo Clinic, and forty-five minutes from Austin, MN which is the home of Hormel Foods and the Hormel Institute, which is a leading cancer research center linked to the University of Minnesota. With a quaint and active downtown square, Woodstock also has a variety of shopping and dining options, as well as an historic opera house. Woodstock, while growing, still maintains a small town dynamic with easy access to stores and other amenities. It also has an Hispanic population that is relatively unreached by other protestant churches.

Choir Director
• Chooses and prepares music weekly for the adult choir (anthem, sung benediction, choral amen, etc.).
• The adult choir sings September-June. During the summer months arranges for singing or instrumental music in lieu of participation by the choir.

• Responsible for securing a sub in case of absence. Payment will be made by the church for a maximum of four Sunday replacements
• Promptly respond to requests regarding your availability to play at weddings, funerals and other occasions. You will negotiate and collect payment as you deem appropriate.

Organist:
• Chooses and prepares prelude and postlude each week for service.
• Attends weekly choir rehearsals and weekly service.
• Practices and plays all service music each week.
• Responsible for securing a sub in case of absence
• Keeps up with organ maintenance by informing appropriate church staff of issues with any of the keyboard instruments and contacts Parsons if necessary for organ malfunctions.

Substitute Organist/Choir Director:
If the church is unable to hire a full-time director of music, it will consider hiring a substitute musician to handle one or two of the responsibilities inherent in the position: organist/pianist, choir director with practices (schedule to be determined) and leading the choir in the 10:30 AM Sunday service. Each of these positions will be paid commensurate with experience.

Working under the guidance and supervision of the CoS pastors and in coordination with the Discipleship & Spiritual Formation Working Team, the children’s ministry coordinator will develop faith formation and children’s worship curriculum rooted in the core affirmations and liturgical practices of CoS. Additional responsibilities include overseeing children’s ministry volunteers, serving on the teaching rotation, preparing classroom spaces and supplies, maintaining check-in procedures and other safety policies, and coordinating periodic special events such as Vacation Bible School.
