What Courses Can I Take?
You may take a Northeastern Seminary's Master-level classes for credit or audit (subject to relevant course auditing policies) without being formally enrolled in a degree or certificate program.
You may even be able to take courses if you have not completed your bachelor's degree.
Courses taken for credit can be applied to any Masters degree or certificate program at Northeastern upon formal acceptance into the program.
Introduction to Biblical Exegesis for Preaching and Teaching
This course introduces students to responsible interpretation (or “exegesis”) of the Bible (both Old and New Testaments) through hands-on, practical skills in reading the biblical text carefully in its literary and historical/cultural context, to understand its message for today.
Suffering, Pain, & Evil: A Theological Response
Those in ministry must often respond to the following question: “Why did God allow that horrible event to happen?” After outlining the various responses (theodicies) available to Christians, this course will discuss how best to help those asking “why” determine what these responses have to offer. Included among the texts read will be the book of Job.
Strategic Planning For Churches & Nonprofit Organizations
This course reviews the reasons why churches & organizations should embrace strategic planning as a way of improving their performance. It presents an effective strategic planning process that has been successfully used by leaders of nonprofit organizations. The course is comprised of a set of concepts, procedures, & tools that can help leaders enhance organizational achievement. Overall, the course is based on the premise that leaders of churches & nonprofits must be effective strategists in order to fulfill their missions.
